Four of us started it, IE, two couples and best mates … Ev & Shelley Kirke & Mars & Rach Koning … ten years ago, we wanted to create a healthy cafe & found a location to pour our Hearts & Souls into. It was an old, dingy space in the quiet end of town. To us, it was perfect, cheap rent & good bones to dress it up with our limited budget. We had a dream to create a health-conscious cafe with good whole & healthy food, drinks & organic coffee with an uplifting vibe. A place for our local community & its visitors to escape to & have their hearts & souls nourished.

It’s been an extraordinary decade of serving you & we’ve loved every minute of it. We’ve gotten to work alongside incredible people - our staff from day one have been the absolute best people - we are grateful for every single one of them, past & present. We’re all so proud of our kids who have all worked alongside us at some stage (& some still are); they are awesome.

Over the years, we’ve grown into the old shop space next to us by knocking a hole in the wall. Then we got our alcohol licence & started doing nights … & then, six years ago, we opened an “on the go” version of H&S over on the south side. We’ve had community events, a market, Christmas parties, private functions, Birthday parties, baby showers, weddings & so much more. What a ride!
